Functional training is unable to condition and properly prepare the soccer player for a competition when used in isolation. The method has an important function within a training program aimed at global evolution of the athlete (SARGENTIM, 2013).

The players need a combination of stimuli that provide a balance between the physical capabilities necessary for high performance. This objective is achieved with specific loads and individualized training. The balance between motor skills provides a good condition for the athlete to have a good physical performance, technical, tactical, and can stand individually or collectively (GATZ, 2009).

Functional training has a strong relationship with muscle balance / articulate athlete, your application improves the muscle chains and brings benefits in the use of training loads, thus allowing for better performance and less risk of injury. This training method has two goals especially in the training of players, and the preparation of athletes to support training loads, bring comfort to the tasks with the strengthened and balanced body and reduce the incidence of muscle or joint injury, which it provides a sequence matches and their best use in competitions (SARGENTIM and PORTELLA, 2007).
